Emotional Trauma Hypnotherapy, Specialist Support to Help You Heal in Cheltenham

£115.00

If you're carrying emotional trauma, you may not even have a name for what you're experiencing.

You just know that something from your past is affecting your present, showing up in your relationships, your sleep, your confidence, your body, or the way you feel about yourself every single day.

Emotional trauma doesn't always look dramatic from the outside. But on the inside, it can be exhausting, isolating, and all consuming.

The good news is that it doesn't have to stay that way.

I'm Lesley Ford, a specialist-trained clinical hypnotherapist based in Cheltenham, working with clients online across the UK.

I help people who are carrying the weight of past experiences to process what happened at a deeper level, so they can finally feel lighter, calmer and more like themselves again.

What is emotional trauma?

Emotional trauma occurs when an experience, or a series of experiences, overwhelms your ability to cope.

It doesn't have to be a single dramatic event. Trauma can develop gradually, over time, in response to childhood neglect, bullying, difficult relationships, loss, ongoing stress, or feeling chronically unseen, unheard or unsafe.

What matters isn't the event itself, but the impact it has had on you.

And if something from your past is still affecting how you feel, think and function today, that impact is real, and it deserves proper attention.

How does emotional trauma affect the mind and body?

One of the things that surprises many people is just how physical emotional trauma can be. Because trauma is stored not just in the mind but in the nervous system and the body, its effects are wide-ranging and often feel completely disconnected from the original experience.

Emotionally, trauma can show up as persistent anxiety or panic attacks, low mood, feelings of hopelessness, low self-esteem, difficulty trusting others, and a deep sense of shame or worthlessness.

Many people find themselves replaying past events, struggling to feel present, or feeling emotionally numb, disconnected from themselves and the people around them.

Physically, unresolved emotional trauma often manifests as chronic tension or pain, digestive problems, frequent headaches or migraines, persistent fatigue, and a weakened immune system that means you're often run down or unwell. Sleep is frequently affected too, difficulty falling asleep, waking repeatedly through the night, vivid nightmares or disturbing dreams are all common experiences for people carrying unresolved trauma.

If any of this sounds familiar, it's not a coincidence, and it's not weakness.

It's your nervous system doing its best to protect you from something it hasn't yet been able to process.

How does hypnotherapy help with emotional trauma?

Traditional talking therapies ask you to consciously revisit and describe your trauma, which for many people can feel retraumatising rather than healing.

Hypnotherapy takes a different approach entirely.

In a state of deep relaxation, your conscious mind steps back, allowing us to work directly with the unconscious, the part of the mind where traumatic memories, emotional responses and protective patterns are stored.

This means we can gently process and reframe past experiences without you needing to relive them in distressing detail.

Hypnotherapy for emotional trauma works by reducing the emotional charge attached to difficult memories, releasing patterns of anxiety and self-protection that no longer serve you, and helping your nervous system to finally feel safe. Over the course of a programme, clients typically find that their anxiety reduces, their sleep improves, their confidence returns, and they begin to feel a genuine sense of peace and possibility that may have felt out of reach for a long time.

Sessions draw on specialist techniques including parts therapy and timeline therapy, each tailored entirely to your unique experience and history.

What does an emotional trauma hypnotherapy programme involve?

Because every person's experience of trauma is different, I don't offer a one-size-fits-all programme. After a free initial consultation to understand your background, your symptoms and what you're hoping for, I design a personalised programme built entirely around you.

Most clients work with me across six sessions, each one building on the last, with the programme moving at a pace that feels right for you.

Sessions take place online via video call, so you can access support from the comfort and privacy of your own home, wherever you are in the UK, no waiting rooms, no travelling, no additional stress.

Your programme includes a free 45-minute consultation, six tailored 1.5 hour hypnotherapy sessions, recordings of each session to listen back to between appointments, bespoke audio recordings to support your progress, and WhatsApp support throughout.

Why work with Lesley Ford for emotional trauma hypnotherapy?

Trauma is not an add-on to my practice, it is my practice.

I am specialist trained in trauma, PTSD and Complex PTSD, and I bring both clinical expertise and genuine compassion to every client I work with.

I understand that reaching out when you're carrying trauma takes real courage. My approach is always gentle, non-judgmental and entirely paced around you.

You will never be pushed to go further than you are ready to go, and there is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with.

Many clients come to me having already tried counselling or other therapies that helped to a point but never quite reached the root of what they were carrying.

Hypnotherapy often gets there when other approaches haven't, because it works at the level where trauma actually lives, in the unconscious mind and the body, rather than just at the surface of conscious thought.

Testimonials

Here's what some of my clients have said about their experience.

I contacted Lesley to help with anxiety and found her very approachable and easy to confide in. I really enjoyed the sessions and found her approach and techniques very effective. I'm definitely feeling calmer now and would highly recommend Lesley for anything you may be struggling with. CV

I’m so glad a friend recommended Lesley. Our sessions have been transformational. She is lovely to work with, v experienced and generous with helpful tools and back up audios. I feel far less anxious and more myself than I have in a long time. And all on zoom! Highly recommend. JA

Just finished my last of 6 sessions with Lesley and I couldn't recommend her enough! I was made to feel calm and at ease right from the intial consultation to the last session. At no point did the sessions feel hurried or rushed, even though each one went over the allotted hour. All in all a lovely service 😊 SF
